September 17, 2009 Through meditation on the Nam, on Infinite Truth, I am a different person--minus a lifetime of superimposed identities by those who do not see my soul, my being is whole and wholely blessed. This morning Guru Nanak went to great lengths in his Hukam from the Golden Temple of Amritsar to address the very core of one's being, minus duality, known only to the saints:
Sorat'h, First Guru, First House, Ashtapadees, Chau-Tukas, SGGS page 634
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
I am not torn by duality, because I do not worship any other than the Lord; I do not visit tombs or crematoriums. I do not enter the houses of strangers, engrossed in desire. The Naam, the Name of the Lord, has satisfied my desires. Deep within my heart, the Guru has shown me the home of my being, and my mind is imbued with peace and poise, O Siblings of Destiny. You Yourself are all-knowing, and You Yourself are all-seeing; You alone bestow intelligence, O Lord. ||1||
My mind is detached, imbued with detachment; the Word of the Shabad has pierced my mind, O my mother. God's Light shines continually within the nucleus of my deepest self; I am lovingly attached to the Bani, the Word of the True Lord Master. ||Pause||
Countless detached renunciates talk of detachment and renunciation, but he alone is a true renunciate, who is pleasing to the Lord Master. The Word of the Shabad is ever in his heart; he is absorbed in the Fear of God, and he works to serve the Guru. He remembers the One Lord, his mind does not waver, and he restrains its wanderings. He is intoxicated with celestial bliss, and is ever imbued with the Lord's Love; he sings the Glorious Praises of the True Lord. ||2||
The mind is like the wind, but if it comes to rest in peace, even for an instant, then he shall abide in the peace of the Name, O Siblings of Destiny. His tongue, eyes and ears are imbued with Truth; O Lord, You quench the fires of desire. In hope, the renunciate remains free of hopes; in the home of his own inner self, he is absorbed in the trance of deep meditation. He remains content, satisfied with the charity of the Naam; he drinks in the Ambrosial Amrit with ease. ||3||
There is no renunciation in duality, as long as there is even a particle of duality. The whole world is Yours, Lord; You alone are the Giver. There is not any other, O Siblings of Destiny. The self-willed manmukh dwells in misery forever, while the Lord bestows greatness upon the Gurmukh. God is infinite, endless, inaccessible and unfathomable; His worth cannot be described. ||4||
The consciousness in deep Samaadhi, the Supreme Being, the Lord of the three worlds - these are Your Names, Lord. The creatures born into this world have their destiny inscribed upon their foreheads; they experience according to their destinies. The Lord Himself causes them to do good and bad deeds; He Himself makes them steadfast in devotional worship. The filth of their mind and mouth is washed off when they live in the Fear of God; the inaccessible Lord Himself blesses them with spiritual wisdom. ||5||
Only those who taste it know its sweet taste, like the mute, who eats the candy, and only smiles. How can I describe the indescribable, O Siblings of Destiny? I shall follow His Will forever. If one meets with the Guru, the Generous Giver, then he understands; those who have no Guru cannot understand this. As the Lord causes us to act, so do we act, O Siblings of Destiny. What other clever tricks can anyone try? ||6||
Some are deluded by doubt, while others are imbued with devotional worship; Your play is infinite and endless. As You engage them, they receive the fruits of their rewards; You alone are the One who issues Your Commands. I would serve You, if anything were my own; my soul and body are Yours. One who meets with the True Guru, by His Grace, takes the Support of the Ambrosial Naam. ||7||
He dwells in the heavenly realms, and his virtues radiantly shine forth; meditation and spiritual wisdom are found in virtue. The Naam is pleasing to his mind; he speaks it, and causes others to speak it as well. He speaks the essential essence of wisdom. The Word of the Shabad is his Guru and spiritual teacher, profound and unfathomable; without the Shabad, the world is insane. He is a perfect renunciate, naturally at ease, O Nanak, whose mind is pleased with the True Lord. ||8||1||
After reading this Hukam and taking it to heart and soul, I went out to feed the animals and saw Fauna running along the low window-sill to hide. Flash came in, hardly noticing me, which was amazing enough, looking for her, to no avail. It is very apparent that Fauna can fend for herself.
With everyone cared for, I set myself for Sat Kriya to wash the world, but also in preparation for the Healing Ardas I am to give this morning. Gurus took full advantage of my pre-consent and simultaneously performed the woman's Healing Ardas with Sat Kriya's wash:
It was easy enough!
Beginning with placing the world on my fingerstips,
The woman was embodied in the earth, at one with it.
The earth's pain her pain,
From what is possibly a terminal disease;
The earth's acid rain her tears.
Earth had no remorse, she is neutral,
Why is this woman suffering?
Guru Nanak walked the earth,
Upon the woman, in his soft sandals,
Blessing earth as earth blessed him,
Giving up her pain to be transmuted into Guru's loving light,
Just as Guru Nanak walked the earth in blessing during his lifetime.
Guru Angad showed how the earth's excrutiating pain
Is blocked bliss,
Waiting to be realized.
Guru Ram Das revealed a plain blue gray realm
Empty of thought,
Pure neutrality--
The Void where miracles occur,
The state she must be in to be cured.
Guru Arjan flooded my consciousness with Peace
Dis-ease free, Guru's ease,
And asked she be given the mantra
"I am you, you are me"
To merge the earth with the heavens,
In peace,
Disease free.
Guru Hargobind, always a bit confounding,
Suggested I gaze upon him from a distance
So I could broadly see
The vastness of his scope--
His coat tails, an infinite number of threads
Spread across the horizen
To save an infinity souls;
This woman, like his cape,
Serving the Guru
To be a savior of all mankind.
Guru Har Rai
Angelic child of nature,
Hunted man-eating tigers
To tame them
In his divine compound,
Releasing them
Harmless, tame,
Into the wild.
The wild tigers, the woman's disease,
To be encompassed in Guru's love.
Child Guru, Guru Har Krishan,
The most powerful of the Gurus
Infused the woman, the earth
With his pranic body
Laying across her, superimposed,
Sinking into every atom, every cell
With eternal life
Transmuting darkness into Light
Guru Teg Bahadur
Using his subtle ethereal reach
Gave the woman to touch souls thousands of miles away
Healing
Feeling no separation.
Guru Gobind Rai...
The battlefield
Mother Earth's pain.
She is to nurture with the healing balm of the Naam.
Tender, angelic savior.
Guru Gobind Singh sat her upon his saddle,
Before him, in charge of the reins.
His horse knows where to go,
So does she.
It is up to her to take reins and give the command
Or not.
Siri Guru Granth Sahib and she long to come together
In a sacred space within her home,
To be a touchstone in times of absolutely excruciating pain
Where nothing else is known,
The Living Truth shall be shown.
During the final wash cycle,
Saints danced and laughed on mother earth with glee,
Stirring up the dust.
When the wringing phase came,
I set about squeezing out the earth
In powerfully focused earnest
More so than ever before,
Guru telling me,
This is the real war,
Wringing out demons
From the earth's core,
A chance
To wring the woman clear of pain.
Soothed in the Amrit Sarovar
Rinsed clean.
We climbed into subtle realms of the heavens
Namo, Namo, our stair,
Where distilled Amrit
Blessed the rarefied air
Ajai, Alai, blasting remaining knots of darkness
Into bursts of light
The earth's joyful release!
Then all to God, All to God
Beyond all human understanding,
All to God,
In serene Oneness.
Guru's
miracle--while giving the healing Ardas over the phone, the woman shared with me how she
has always identified with Mother Earth, even blessing earth with the
Long Time Sun Shine song. In tears she admitted that all her life she
has been helping people without thinking about it. With a kind word or
divine, healing gaze she gave hope to many who were downtrodden, who
now tell her she saved them!
We already
are who we are going to become, the Gurus ever with us, in our very
essence of being, something known only to the saints. Waheguru!
As I write Fauna has been sleeping on a pillow in tender
peace once again after having her easily tangled baby wool combed and
washed with warm water of litter, mud and straw from the farmyard. She
wakes to lick herself, and I join her to brush and fluff her wool. She
goes back to sleep, content to stay on her soft bed with no desire to
hop away. I am grateful to God for being able to provide her with
welcomed, nurturing care.
Before
going to evening kirtan and a new moon meditation to heal folks in our
community, I placed Fauna in the feedroom, still in her basket, resting
on a pillow, covered by a soft-blanket burrow.
There
were not enough people to do the Healing of the Tantra Ring. We need
eleven and only had seven. So we chanted "Ra Ma Da Sa, Sa Say So Hung"
for eleven minutes instead, in the original one-breath style, with the
pause after the first Sa and the last bit of breath coming from the
navel on "Hung". So fine. Only if people had been more aware of our
group energy, it would have created a much more powerful vortex for
deep healing. Next time I will tell such a story from my experience, known only to the saints....
Tonight my job--lighting the hall furnace, to defray the penetrating cold of Fall's rise.
