"This mantra calls upon the 3rd Sikh Guru, Guru Amar Das, and the the fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ram Das, to answer one's prayers. The literal meaning of this mantra is:
'The prayer has gone out. Guru Amar Das hears the prayer and Guru Ram Das confirms it, and is the true guarantee that it is accepted.'
Sing it and all virtues will be yours. Sing it and whatever God gives to you, will run to you. Singh it every day with every breath and you'll find peace, prosperity and your soul within your consciousness.
You can rewrite your destiny through this prayer."
I was present on many occasions when Yogi Bhajan gave this mantra to his classes adding insights over the years. I will go through the mantra section by section, calling up from memory what he has shared:
"Ardaas" means "prayer."
"Bhayee" is a form of the verb "to be" connoting that the prayer is pre-granted by the Divine.
"Amar Daas Guroo" - Guru Amar Das was the hope of the hopeless, shelter of the shelterless, honor of the honorless. Guru Amar Das's free kitchen never stockpiled supplies for his total reliance was upon the Infinite to provide all that was needed.
"Amar Daas Guroo" is repeated as Guru Amardas's call for infinite blessings to be bestowed.
"Bhayee" is God's Guarantee through Guru Amar Das that an infinite supply is pre-granted.
"Raam Daas Guroo" repeated three times represents Guru Ram Das's past, present and future blessings for the prayer.
"Sachee Sahee" is Guru Ram Das's true stamp, guaranteeing divine power to the prayer.
"Sing it, and whatever God gives to you will run to you," because the prayer pre-grants them!
"Sing it everyday with every breath and you'll find peace, prosperity, and your soul within your consciousness," through calling upon the blessed intervention of the Infinite Lord.
"You can rewrite your destiny through this prayer," as its guarantee supersedes all karmas, mental limitations and the veil of illusion.
