Dhan Dhan Ram Das Gur Miracle Shabad of Guru Ram Das
October 9, 2009 Guru Ram Das's Birthday - a day of
bliss!
This morning I arrived at
Gurdwara at the Mother Ashram in time for the sangat Japji and two and half hours of Dhan Dhan Ram
Gur, and made prayers for all ten Gurus to adorn all people's ten bodies all
around the world.
"Dhan
Dhan Raam Daas gur; jin siri-aa tinai savaari-aa."
Blessed, blessed is the court of Guru Raam Daas;
The One who has created You, has adorned You.
I prayed
for the miracle of Guru Ram Das to be complete worldwide and throughout the
cosmos, preparing us to merge in the consciousness of the Aquarian Age so we
may take our rightful seat in the court of the Lord.
Complete
is Your Miracle;the Creator
Lord Himself has installed You on
the throne.
I prayed
for all people to see and supremely honor God in each other, rather than debase
and slander.
"Sikhee
atai sangtee Paarbarahm kar namaskaari-aa." The
Sikhs and the holy community recognize You as the Supreme Lord God,
and bow to You.
That we
remain steady and unshakeable in our self-knowledge, knowing no limit to God
consciousness.
"Atal athaahu atol too tayraa ant na paaraavaari-aa." You are permanent, deep like an ocean and
unweighable; You have no end or limitation.
That we
may serve and help eachother through hard times with love, giving like God,
rather than killing each other.
"Jinhee
too(n) sayvi-aa bhaa-o kar, say tudh paar utaari-aa." Those
who serve You with love, You carry them across.
I saw
and felt Guru Ram Das' miracle transforming destructive vices into coziness and
love of God all around the world.
"Lab
lobh kaam krodh moh - maar kadhay tudh saparvaari-aa." Greed,
desire, lust, anger and emotional attachment - You have beaten them and
driven them out of the homes of householders, blessing
entire families.
With every "Dhan so tayraa thaan
hai" I saw God's vast presence equally established in each person, everywhere.
"Dhan
so tayraa thaan hai sach tayraa paiskaari-aa."
Blessed
is Your place, and True is Your extension or expansion of theGuru's
presence.
I called on each of the ten Gurus to fill each person with their
presence, the same way Guru Nanak filled Lehna to make him Guru Angad, and Guru
Amar Das and all the ten Gurus, and that we consciously merge with the Gurus through
meditation.
"Naanak
too lahnaa toohai gur amar too veechaari-aa." You
are Nanak, You are Angad, and You are Amar Daas; so do Irecognize
You through deep meditation.
And for our minds and all ten bodies to be fortified like steel, forever
steadied by our experience of the Gurus within our body temples:
"Gur
dithaa taa(n) man saadhaari-aa."
When I saw the vision of the Guru's Court, then my mind body and soul
was supported and sustained forever.
My meditation on Dhan Dhan Ram
Das Gur was composed of inhaling each line as it was sung, inhaling all ten
Gurus into all of us--feeling nothing lacking, and exhaling with the solid power
of all ten Gurus through our voices as we repeated each line aloud. Those who
were only listening to the group voice were merged in it through the pure
sound, all lights shining as one.Our joined voices support each other in this realization.
After eating a couple pieces of
rich birthday cake after kirtan last night my voice was clogged with mucous. It
didn't seem as though it would be possible to sing today. So I prayed to Guru
before going to sleep to empower me to project his words with a full heart,
with no impediment, to shine his light brightly. And so it was!
My prayers for the world
contained my prayer for myself--to be steady as a rock in my projection,
fortified by the acknowledged presence of the ten Gurus within me, so no power
can shake me--so that whatever happens, I may fully trust and live in the flow
of God's Will.
Following morning Gurdwara we
had a lovely langar of Yogi Tea, stuffed purantas, yogurt, achar and
peas with paneer. I sat among women discussing the many ways they teach and
travel to share Yogiji's and the Guru's teachings to better understand the
realm I, too, am entering. Towards the end, as people began to leave, the
professional woman sitting next to me who had been telling us, at my request,
of her special field, asked what work Ido
to share the teachings.
My answer was simple and direct, "My work is to pray for the world." When she seemed surprised, I explained the
origins and way of calling on the Gurus in Gurus' Healing Ardas and washing the
world, and how giving healing consultations in communities will naturally lead
to providing workshops.
We feel our conversation will
lead us to meet again.
The
Hukam from Sadhana Gurdwara describes my experience of resonating Dhan Dhan Ram
Das Gur in prayer for the full two and a half hours. From the depth of that
security, it truly feels as though Guru has arranged all my affairs:
JAITSREE, FOURTH MEHL, FIRST HOUSE, CHAU-PADAS:
ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE
OF THE TRUE GURU:
The Jewel of the Lord's Name abides within my heart; the Guru has placed His
hand on my forehead. The sins and pains of countless incarnations have been
cast out. The Guru has blessed me with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and my
debt has been paid off. || 1 ||
O my
mind, vibrate the Lord's Name, and all your affairs shall be resolved. The
Perfect Guru has implanted the Lord's Name within me; without the Name, life is
useless. || Pause ||
Without
the Guru, the self-willed manmukhs are foolish and ignorant; they are forever
entangled in emotional attachment to Maya. They never serve the feet of the
Holy; their lives are totally useless. || 2 ||
Those
who serve at the feet of the Holy, the feet of the Holy, their lives are made
fruitful, and they belong to the Lord. Make me the slave of the slave of the
slaves of the Lord; bless me with Your Mercy, O Lord of the Universe.
|| 3 ||
I am
blind, ignorant and totally without wisdom; how can I walk on the Path? I am
blind O Guru, please let me grasp the hem of Your robe, so that servant Nanak
may walk in harmony with You. || 4 || 1 || SGGS, page 696
Our evening Gurdwara was precious as musicians played the
five Guru Ram Das Swayas, ending with Dhan Dhan Ram Das Gur. It was a chance
for everyone to confirm their morning prayers and make new ones if they wished,
along with bringing a wish dish to spread the blessings.
I had not realized it was a wish dish Gurdwara and did not
make anything, only gazed with gratitude upon the beautifully prepared dishes
spread before the Guru, made with so much love! During Ardas, when Guru's Prashad
and the wish dishes were blessed by the sword, I offered Guru my body as a
gift, whereby everyone could ingest the clear love and joy in my voice as I
sang Guru's words, and spontaneously felt my body etherically sliced by the
sword, sanctifying this prayer.
My personal prayers this evening, by Guru's Grace, are that
all my affairs be arranged, all bills paid, my grace and honor preserved,
animals receive store feed through the winter, and my work--the book, the
website, workshops, healing Ardas, my CD-ROMS and world-wide communications flourish--in so doing making Guru's wondrous miracle apparent to all.
Included in this was a request for a companion to live
with me in my guest room, someone that will also care for the animals when I
am out of town, and tolerate my loud sadhanas when I am home--simply a friend. Not so much a husband, for no human being will ever fill Guru
Arjan's and Guru Gobind Singh's profound roles in my life.
